They are seeking a Bioinformatics Developer to join their Professional Services team, delivering impactful, data-driven solutions to life sciences clients. This hybrid role combines hands-on scientific development, bioinformatics expertise, and system integration, helping research teams organize, analyze, and operationalize their omics data using a cutting-edge platform.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will collaborate closely with clients, product managers, and engineers to grasp complex requirements and translate them into scalable, interoperable workflows. - Leading and scoping bioinformatics projects.
- Understanding client needs and defining project strategies, milestones, and deliverables across various omics domains.
- Processing, curating, and harmonizing omics datasets.
- Designing and implementing integrations between the platform and external systems such as cloud/on-prem storage, pipeline engines, and analytical tools.
- Building and maintaining bioinformatics connectors and pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and metadata normalization.
- Developing custom analytical and visualization tools using Python or R to support client-specific reporting and data exploration.
- Collaborating across teams, including software engineers, product managers, and customer success, to ensure smooth client delivery and ongoing improvements.
- Translating technical details into clear client documentation, training materials, and onboarding presentations.
- Supporting pre-sales and onboarding efforts, including technical scoping, trial integrations, and early proof-of-value demonstrations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related scientific/technical field.
- Proven experience managing and delivering bioinformatics projects, ideally in a consulting or service-oriented environment.
- Strong skills in Python or R, focusing on reproducible scientific coding, APIs, and automation scripting.
- Working knowledge of data integration protocols (HTTPS, S3, REST APIs), file formats (JSON, YAML, TSV), and data validation.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and pipelines (e.g., RNA-seq, variant calling, multi-omics integration).
- Experience with data visualization frameworks such as Dash, Shiny, Plotly, or matplotlib.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing short-term tasks with long-term architectural planning.
- Excellent English communication skills, with experience presenting complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice to have Qualifications (not Required):
- Experience creating custom connectors, ETL pipelines, or integrations across client infrastructures and cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Nextflow, Airflow, or similar.
- Hands-on experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure), including secure access and environment provisioning.
- Exposure to JVM-based languages like Java or Kotlin for backend integration.
- Domain knowledge in oncology, immunology, single-cell analysis, microbiome research, or other therapeutic and molecular data fields.
