Head of Infrastructure (IT)

Job description

We are looking for a seasoned and proactive Head of Infrastructure (IT) to lead and manage the global infrastructure operations of our client. This is a strategic leadership role with the opportunity to shape and optimize complex infrastructure environments across both cloud and on-prem systems.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will take full ownership of the client’s IT infrastructure across multiple countries, overseeing both the technical direction and team leadership. They will lead all initiatives related to infrastructure scalability, security, vendor management, and system performance.

• Lead, mentor, and expand the global IT infrastructure team (currently 14 FTEs)
• Manage and deliver infrastructure-related projects, including integration of newly acquired companies
• Oversee all vendor relationships for infrastructure services, from selection and negotiation to invoicing
• Ensure reliable and efficient IT infrastructure support for approximately 1,000 users
• Plan, design, and maintain the organization’s on-premises IT infrastructure
• Manage cloud infrastructure with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure
• Implement automation to streamline routine IT operations and improve system efficiency
• Support the IT Director in infrastructure budgeting and track expenditures across all entities
• Own the complete IT security lifecycle: from prevention and detection to response and recovery
• Stay current with industry trends and provide recommendations for continuous improvement

Requirements

• Working in a management or team lead position in an infrastructure team (>5 years)
• IT Engineer experience (10 years) in systems and infrastructure
• Deep understanding of on-prem hardware: servers, firewalls, routers, switches, enterprise networking for design, installation, deployment and maintenance
• Proficient with Azure IaaS & PaaS: VMs, VNets, NSGs, Load Balancers, Azure Firewall (5 years)
• Experience managing hybrid cloud environments: Azure Arc, VPN Gateways, ExpressRoute together with Azure AD and Identity governance
• Knowledge of network security, firewall policies, Zero Trust architecture
• Familiarity with support and ticketing systems, incident tracking and project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, or Zendesk.
• Experience with automation tools:  Terraform, Ansible, Azure Automation, PowerShell, Bash
• Ability to produce and enforce policies and provide technical documentation for audits.
• Excellent communication skills in fluent English for effective stakeholder engagement and documentation.

Skills and Qualifications (Nice to have):

• French Language is considered a huge bonus
• Having led migration projects or implementation is appreciated
• Knowledge and experience with major hyperscalers like preferably Azure, AWS, GCP
• Having experience with licensing, vendor management and budgeting processes
