Responsibilities
We’re looking for a senior or lead-level AI Developer with a strong emphasis on LLMs and agentic workflows to join the team. In this position, you’ll play a key role in embedding LLM-driven features into bioinformatics applications, working on both experimental prototypes and production-ready solutions.
- Design and develop LLM-based functionality using state-of-the-art AI tools, including RAG and agentic systems.
- Operate across the AI development lifecycle — from early-stage prototyping to live deployments — validating concepts and ensuring effective real-world use.
- Investigate and assess new AI tools (both proprietary and open-source), identifying those with tangible benefits.
- Work closely with product, data, and bioinformatics teams to craft AI solutions that are practical and scientifically robust.
- Fine-tune performance in production settings: latency, output quality, token efficiency, and stability.
- Contribute to prompt engineering and evaluation methodologies, addressing risks like hallucinations and overconfidence in real use cases.
Requirements
- 6+ years of hands-on software engineering with solid computer science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures).
- Proficiency in Python and working familiarity with Java for integration tasks.
- Practical experience with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) and orchestration libraries (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex), including real-world deployments.
- Knowledge of retrieval pipelines and vector databases for semantic search within LLM-driven workflows.
- Strong understanding of agentic systems and prompt design, including iterative improvement strategies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A true interest in life sciences and applying AI in bioinformatics settings.
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
It would be nice for you to have:
- Experience evaluating and integrating open-source models and frameworks.
- Familiarity with model serving and fine-tuning tools (e.g., vLLM, TGI, Triton).
- Awareness of LLMOps and observability practices.
- Exposure to bioinformatics or working with real-world biological data.
- Frontend development experience (e.g., React) is a plus.
